"Classic Bike Days" on the Heidbergring makes room for classic motorcycles that want to be thoroughly pushed around the bends. The variety was huge. From the 1300cc six-cylinder Kawasaki KZ to the "Renn Simme" based on the Simson S51, a lot was represented. To give it away straight away: The Simme set the best lap times. The riding style was impeccable, the tight course of the Heidbergring just made for the potent two-stroke.
In the morning, we went around the 850-metre course on the left, then on the right after the break. Good tactics, no chance of boredom.
If you want to know more about the institution in Geesthacht an der Elbe, you can find an article on Wiki:
The MSC Geethacht has once again given everything. Top organization. Driver briefing, route, course and catering - everything was top. The weather was also great. After a rather wet 2023 edition, this year we had the best conditions on the still quite new asphalt. If you didn't hit the line well on the first run, a local instructor came to your aid. Just hang on to the rear wheel and learn. Thank you! Even as a beginner, you quickly gained confidence and, above all, had fun on the track.
Who still knows what a Yamaha TDR250 is? It is an experience! One of the visitors had brought just such a rare two-stroke to the start. With its super-moto characteristics and powerful two-cylinder engine, it was basically a nimble cornering machine from the late 80s. Seeing a TDR in action was a highlight of the day in itself.
Also rare and very impressive: an RD500 YPVS. A really official two-stroke with as many as four cylinders.
It's the mix that makes the difference. The appeal of the lovingly organized event lies in the combination of motorcycles worth seeing and very ambitious riders. Unobtrusive machines based on the XS400 or XJ650 were also at the start and delivered a decent performance. Learning by watching,

The mood is wonderfully captured by Philipp and Simon, the creators of "Philm".
We had traveled with two KEDOs and friends. And besides - we often know each other from various events anyway. Nevertheless, the Heidbergring was once again an outstanding event. The course has a special quality.
In addition to a fast Duc, we once again had a fast SR500 with us - to be honest - for tuning. Which also worked very well. An opportunity like this is simply valuable.

We say THANK YOU to the MSC Geesthacht for the
"Classic Bike Days" 2024 - super team, top organization.
It was a lot of fun and experience. Curve training at its very best.
We highly recommend that you find out about a starting place next year.
If your motorcycle was registered before 1994, you can start. Don't worry, all participants will be taken into consideration. There were even enduro bikes at the start, but you should choose the right tires and have some riding experience.
See you next year!
