Freddy's SR500

Immerse yourself in the fascination of the classic SR 500.

"For me, the SR is the motorcycle when it comes to combining reliability, pure technology and style. It was not built from 1978 to 1999 with an almost unchanged engine for nothing. After that, the SR was still available as a 400cc, but fuel injection and exhaust gas purification brought additional details and reduced performance. The simplicity was over.

The SR500 from the years up to 1999 impresses with its simple design and classic appearance.
There are no unnecessary bells and whistles, you get from A to B and still have time to take in your surroundings while driving.
The SR is nothing more and nothing less than a simple motorcycle. A "bread and butter moped" is what they would have called it in the past, and that's exactly what makes it so appealing to me.

It is simple, but beautiful. Not fast and not slow. Reliable and relatively easy to maintain."

Journey

Freddy and his SR500 - To Norway in winter

When Frederik was born in 1996, the Yamaha SR500 was already a classic with two decades under its belt.
He impressively shows us that the fascination for this robust single-cylinder is unbroken, even in the millennial generation - and in his own voice. "For me, the SR500 embodies the ideal motorcycle when it comes to the combination of reliability, technical clarity and classic style. The fact that it was produced almost unchanged from 1978 to 1999 speaks for itself. Later models such as the SR400 relied on fuel injection and exhaust control - for me, a piece of the original simplicity was lost."

What makes the SR500 special for Frederik?
Its reduced, honest concept: no superfluous ballast, no technical gimmicks - but a motorcycle that fulfills its purpose with style. "The SR gets me from A to B - and leaves room to really experience the ride. It is simple, but beautiful. Not fast, but not slow either. And above all: reliable and comparatively uncomplicated to maintain."

A motorcycle that does not push itself into the foreground - but which inspires with its unagitated presence for precisely this reason.

We were at the Scrambler Fever in Poland last weekend and it was really good again! 2 days of rattling through the woods with about 70 other enduro enthusiasts. Due to the extreme drought, many forest roads were a sandy hell. Everyone cursed about it, many crashed but everyone had a big grin on their face afterwards. More about this event soon....
